When our clients are booking a vacation, they always ask when is the best time to travel to their location of choice.
The answer is, that depends on several factors. When do you want to go, what do you want to do when you are there, and what is your budget? You might ask what your budget has to do with it - read on to find out.
Let’s start with where do you want to go. Most people have a good idea of where they would like to visit. This can narrow down the best weather. But what is the best weather? That depends on what you want to do. If you want to ski, you’ll need snow and that means you need to visit in winter. If you want to have some quality beach time you’ll need sun, so summer is best. The best weather for your trip might not be the best weather for someone else’s trip. It all depends on location, activities and how much you want to spend.
Your budget is one factor that will help determine when it is the best time to travel.
Let’s look at how your budget will affect when it is the best time to travel. It’s no secret, it costs more to travel to the most popular during peak time. This is when flights, accommodation and activities are all the most expensive. The bottom line is if you want to go somewhere popular at the best time to go, that is when the weather is best, and do the activities that are most popular - you’ll be paying peak prices. This isn't all bad news. You can make considerable savings by traveling off peak. This doesn’t mean you’ll get terrible weather, it means you’d be traveling when the possibility of not getting the best weather is higher.
Travel dates either side of peak season can be great times to visit a destination, depending on what you are planning on doing. For example, traveling outside of the ski season would not be our recommendation.
